Who is the dog-loving lady sitting behind The Bare Studio? Let's find out...

Why did you start your business?

I started a business because I realised people craved human connection, convenience and the want to look and feel their best. A factor was also that I come from a corporate background (still working in finance full time currently) and it was slowly crushing me. Whenever I go into the studio I feel calm, happy, and get the chance to talk and vibe with the most incredible clients, which fills my cup.

What are you most proud of?

I began in Oct 2025 working out of my lounge room on a fold out massage bed, which was very low budget, and my prices reflected that. I was working for pennies whilst I built my skills and within less than a year I graduated to renting a studio space casually in a studio in Subiaco, which has elevated my business and my services drastically.

What motivates you?

One of the major drives for me is to quit my full time job and commit to this fully. Any spare income I have from my job goes into the business, and when I plan to quit (in 2 months or so) I am throwing everything I have into this business with hopes to build something incredible, and be my own boss without answering to anyone ever again. I am originally from Sydney and lived abroad for most of my 20’s, so I have friends and family everywhere. I want to be able to go see them without ever having to request it, and on the other hand if my ADHD locks in on certain times, I want to be able to work 12 hours a day 7 days a week  if I feel like I can. The flexibility to be in control and mold the life I want is what also drives me.

What’s something people don’t see behind the scenes?

They don’t see me working 6 days a week, 60 hour work weeks between my full time job and the studio. They see the before and afters on my stories but not the breakdowns I have when I don’t have many bookings and I wonder how I am going to pay my studio rent that month. No one sees me logging off my computer from my main job after 8 hours, then driving to the studio to do clients in the evenings, then driving home and going back on my phone and laptop to edit and post content, and plan the business strategy. It is my whole world, and I hope people will soon be able to recognise the passion I have for what I am creating.

Most chaotic business owner moment?

Booking in clients last minute late on Christmas eve (we’re talking like 9pm) as they dm’d me in a panic and I said yes.

Favourite way to unwind?

Dog walks in the sun with a friend or a good podcast and a yummy beverage of sorts in the morning, then wine bar and nibbly bits plans with the girl group or boyfriend in the arvo/evening.

What’s always in your work bag?

Spoolies, mints, a soy sauce fish packet and a phone charger cord

Biggest lesson from business ownership?

I didn’t want to believe it but you have to spend money to make money. Also you only get out of it what you put in (this can be in terms of branding, marketing, content, training etc). I found the times I did things rushed and not thought through, I ended up hating it or it didn’t convert into engagement.

Advice to women starting out?

Everything will work out, you just have to trust the universe and perspective is everything. Instead of seeing low sales/bookings week or month, see it as time being given back to you to learn something new for your business or re-train in something, or plan your next content strategy. One of my biggest grounding thoughts is that nothing is permanent and money is cyclical. I always think “omg im spending so much money on this and that blah blah” but then I remember that I can literally just stop if I don’t see it fulfilling me anymore. Life moves on and the world keeps spinning. Yeah I may lose a few thousand dollars if I did that but money comes and goes and we have our whole life to make it back, so it shouldn’t kill you every night thinking about it. You just need to breathe and trust your intuition and I promise it’ll all figure itself out. (I hope that makes sense I dont think I explained it right ahaha)

What makes your business different/ unique?

I am big on environment and energy, and I can safely say I read people well. My business is more than just basic treatments, it’s like sitting in your lounge room chatting to an old friend - you just walk out looking extra gorgeous afterwards!

Favourite dessert?

Tiramasu
